A full house repaint is the biggest paint job most owners order while living in the home. The hard part is not the painting. It is the sequencing: the outside in the right weather, the inside around your family.
Run as one job, it takes three to four weeks with one set-up, one lot of access equipment and one overhead. Booked separately, you pay for all of that twice.
The scope covers every interior wall and ceiling, plus doors, frames, skirting and architraves. Outside, it covers render or weatherboard, eaves, fascia, gutters, garage door and window frames. The roof is quoted separately but shares the same access.

How the inside and outside differ
Same house, two different jobs. Knowing which half your money goes into makes a quote easier to read.
The interior half
Driven by disruption, not weather. We stage rooms around your household and keep odour down. Prep is filling, sanding and spot-priming. The finish is low-sheen acrylic on walls, flat white on ceilings and water-based enamel on trim. Full detail is on our interior painting page.
The exterior half
Driven by weather and access: rain, hot afternoon sun, two-storey walls and tight boundaries. Prep is pressure cleaning, crack repair, rust treatment and priming. The finish is a UV-stable acrylic membrane, coastal-rated where needed. Full detail is on our exterior painting page.
The roof, if it is in scope
Quoted separately because it is a different system with different prep. We schedule it in the same programme so access only goes up once, which costs less than coming back for it.
How we sequence a full repaint
The order matters. Get it wrong and exterior trades mark fresh interior paint.
01 Full inspection and scope
Every room, every elevation and the roof. We note repairs, measure, plan access and confirm the scope in writing before we price.
02 Colour confirmation
We test colours on your own walls, in their real light. On a job this size, choosing from a chip is the costliest mistake you can make.
03 Exterior first
Outside goes first, while the weather holds and before the interior is fresh. Roof, then walls, trims and gutters.
04 Interior in staged zones
Zone by zone: usually bedrooms, then living areas, then wet areas. You always have somewhere to sleep and cook.
05 Detail, clean and walk-through
Enamel work last, fittings back on, full clean. We walk the house with you and finish touch-ups before we leave.
How much does it cost to paint a house in Perth?
Here is how a whole-house price is built.
Price depends on floor area, storeys, condition and how much trim is in scope. A full quote covers preparation and two coats throughout. Roof coating is quoted separately.
Doing both halves together saves money. A combined price usually lands below two separate quotes, because you pay for one set-up instead of two.
Condition moves the price more than size. A well-kept 4×2 can cost less than a neglected 3×1. Cracking, poor old patching, rotten weatherboards, failed render or wallpaper removal all add prep days.
Be wary of a quote well below the rest. The usual cuts are the second coat, primer on bare or patched areas, and prep hours. You will not see them on handover day. You will see them in three years.

Living at home during the repaint
Most clients stay put, and we plan for that. Exterior work means little more than noise and access. Inside, we work in zones so you always have a made bed and a working kitchen.
Expect trades from early morning, cars moved off the driveway, and a day or two when the kitchen or bathroom is awkward. Low-VOC paint keeps odour minor.
If the house is empty, or you can move out for a week, the interior runs faster and costs less. Tell us if your timing allows it.

House painting questions
It depends on floor area, storeys, condition and how much trim is in scope. Condition matters most: a neglected 3x1 can cost more to prepare than a well-kept 4x2. Doing inside and out together usually costs less than two separate quotes, because there is only one set-up. We inspect the whole home and give you one fixed written price with the exclusions listed.
About three to four weeks for a typical single-storey 4x2, inside and out, in reasonable weather. The exterior usually takes one to two weeks, depending on access. The interior takes one to two weeks, depending on trim work. Two-storey homes and houses needing major repairs take longer. We give you a programme with dates, not a vague range.
No, and most of our clients stay. We work zone by zone so you always have a made bed and a working kitchen. Low-VOC paint means rooms painted during the day are normally usable that night. If the house is empty or you can leave for a week, the interior runs faster and costs less, so tell us if your timing allows it.
Yes, they are part of a standard exterior scope. Eaves are sheltered and usually clean up easily. Fascia takes full sun along its length and is often the most worn part of the house. Gutters are cleaned, degreased, rust-treated and primed before the finish coats. Each item is listed in the quote so you can see what is included.
Roof coating is quoted separately, though we schedule it in the same programme. Structural repairs, major rot replacement, rendering and roof restoration are separate trades. If we find any of these at inspection, we tell you before quoting rather than discovering it mid-job. Anything outside the scope is listed in writing.
