The job
Painting for a new three-storey apartment complex in Queens Park. Inside the apartments, the work covered the walls, ceilings and doors through the living areas, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms and laundries. Outside, it covered the rendered facade and balcony edges, plus the common stairwells and the undercroft car park.
Details that mattered
Every apartment is finished in the same light neutral, so walls, ceilings and doors had to match from one unit to the next. In empty new rooms every edge is on show, so the cut-in lines along cornices, door frames and the black window frames were kept crisp.
The kitchens, vanities and timber-look floors were already in when painting started, so benchtops and floors were covered first and stayed protected until the clean-up.
In the stairwells, grey treads and white walls meet black steel balustrades, so each of those edges was cut in by brush.
